Local high school pupils gain work experience

09 Sep 2009

During the summer months of May, June and July, Steel Valley Project hosted three fortnight periods whereby two Year 10 pupils each from Stocksbridge High, King Edward VII and Bradfield High participated in the practical work days of the environmental team and volunteered their time. They got involved in work such as public footpath clearance, bird box making, gate repairs, office/admin, litter clearance in local woodland, woodland management, tools & vehicle maintenance, schools habitat management events and project planning. Their experience also enabled developing their team work, hand tool use and wildlife identification skills.
