Don't just read all about it

Are you interested in getting out and about? Want to understand how the landscape in the Upper Don Valley got to be like it is today? Well, you can explore how people and nature worked together to create the fascinating heritage and countryside around Stocksbridge and the surrounding communities.
As part of the Heritage Lottery Funded project 'Stone to Steel', the Steel Valley Project has produced a series of Heritage Handbooks and Heritage Trails Leaflets to give you the opportunity to explore the Upper Don Valley.
Stone to Steel Heritage Project Officer, Holly Beavitt - Pike said, "These new publications are great for locals and visitors alike. There are now six different trails leaflets to guide you round the area which are wonderful walks. At the same time there are snippets of information and things to look out for to help you enjoy this unique area".
Also, look out for four themed leaflets launched earlier this year. These Heritage Handbooks look at aspects of life from 10,000 years ago to the present, as well as suggesting places to visit to help discover and explore the Stone to Steel area.
The heritage trail leaflets will be available from local libraries and tourist information points and will be downloadable from this website shortly. Alternatively call in to the Steel Valley Project in Stocksbridge.
